Up-to-date information on technology development for dry active wastes (DAW) in Japan

Description

Since Fiscal Year 1992, the disposal of low-level homogeneous solid wastes has been conducted at the Rokkasho low-level radioactive waste storage facility in Japan. Many studies concerning the disposal site, waste characterization safety, etc., are underway. The generation of DAW and the technical requirements for conditioned DAW and the classification of DAW in accordance with the technical requirements and production of conditioned DAW are introduced. The volume reduction technology for DAW and grouting technology are presented. (24 ills.)
