2. IAEA technical meeting on first generation of fusion power plants: Design and technology. Book of abstracts and programme
Description
The present meeting provided a forum for presentation and exchange of ideas in the topics and issues that have been anticipated to become relevant within the next two generations, when a first power plant prototype is expected to be in operation leading to the first generation of commercial power plants with attractive safety and environmental features and viable economics. The requirements arising for fusion development (including plasma physics, materials and human resources) will also be addressed. Following the first meeting in 2005, Vienna, the present meeting brought new results and promoted discussions in the following topics: - (PPCA) Power Plant Concepts and systems Analysis; - (MCP) Materials analysis/Components design/Plasma requirements; - (NE) Non-Electric applications of fusion; - (SESE) Social, Economic, Safety and Environmental aspects of fusion; - (EP) Energy Policy, strategy and scenario for fusion development
