A method for purifying air containing radioactive substances resulting from the disintegration of radon
Description
The invention relates to the extraction of radioactive isotopes from air. It refers to a method for withdrawing the radioactive substances resulting from the disintegration of radon from air, said method of the type comprising filtrating the air contaminated by the radon daughter products in a filter wetted with water in order to trap said substances in water. It is characterized in that it comprises the steps of causing the water contaminated by the radon daughter products to flow through a filtrating substance containing a non hydrosoluble granular substrate, the outer surface of which has been dried then wetted by a normally-liquid hydrocarbon, and of returning then wetted by a normally-liquid hydrocarbon, and of returning the thus filtrated water so that it wets again the air filter and entraps further radon daughter products. This can be applied to the purification of the air in uranium mines

L'invention concerne le retrait des isotopes radio-actifs de l'air. Elle se rapporte a un procede de retrait des produits radioactifs de desintegration du radon de l'air, du type qui comprend la filtration de l'air contamine par les produits de desintegration du radon, dans un filtre mouille par de l'eau de maniere que les produits de desintegration soient captures par l'eau, le procede comprenant la circulation de l'eau contaminee par les produits de desintegration du radon dans une matiere de filtration comprenant un substrat granulaire non hyposoluble dont la surface a ete sechee puis mouillee par un hydrocarbure normalement liquide et le retour de l'eau filtree de maniere qu'elle mouille a nouveau le filtre a air et capture d'autres produits de decomposition du radon.
