Investigation of the radiation resistance of the scintillation plates made by the die casting method and spectra-shifting fibers

Description
Comparative study of radiation resistance of polystyrene scintillation plates and spectra-shifting fibers, which are widely used in electromagnetic and hadron calorimeters, is carried out. The samples were irradiated by the gamma-quanta from the 137 Cs source with the approximate dose of 6 rad/s. Dependences of the relative light yield of various scintillation plates and spectra-shifting fibers on the integral dose within the range of 10-103 krad and on the reduction time by irradiation with different doses are presented. It is established that the cast polystyrene scintillators with the 15% PTP + 0.05% POPOP and 15% PTP + 0.05% DM POPOP additives are characterized by the highest conversion ability and radiation resistance about 2000-3600 krad. 21 refs., 8 figs
