The surface layer thickness and the near-surface diffusion of oxygen in metal oxides
Description
The methods of measuring the surface layer thickness and the near-surface diffusion coefficient of oxygen in oxides (kinetic method and 18O-exchange method) are presented in detail, and the data in some metal oxides are reviewed. These results demonstrate that the surface layer thickness is greater than the monatomic layer and increases with increasing temperature. Some discussions on the values of surface diffusion coefficient and near-surface diffusion of oxygen are given. (author) 52 refs., 12 figs
