The S11-P11 phase shifts of pion-nucleon scattering

Description
The S11 and P11 partial amplitude is calculated using the N/D method. The present calculation differs from the previous ones in the handling of the divergent behaviour of the forces due to first-order diagrams, by parameterizing the short-range forces, and in the way of including inelasticity. We obtain the nucleon as a bound state with correct mass and residue and the correct S11 and P11 scattering lengths. The calculated S-wave and P-wave phase shifts and absorption coefficients are in substantial agreement with those from the CERN Theoretical and Almehed-Lovelace phase shift analyses. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die S11- und P11-Partialamplitude wird nach dem N/D-Verfahren berechnet. Der vorliegende Ansatz unterscheidet sich von frueheren in der Behandlung des divergenten Verhaltens der aus Diagrammen erster Ordnung resultierenden Kraefte, durch die Parametrisierung kurz reichweitiger Kraefte und in der Art der Beruecksichtigung der Inelastizitaet. Wir erhalten das Nukleon als gebundenen Zustand mit korrekter Masse und korrektem Residuum und den korrekten S11 und P11-Streulaengen. Die berechneten S-Wellen- und P-Wellen-Phasenverschiebungen und Absorptionskoeffizienten stimmen im wesentlichen mit den Werten der theoretischen und Almehed-Lovelace-Analysen der Phasenverschiebung im CERN ueberein.
