Nondestructive evaluation of be diffusion depth on Zr-4

Description

The ultrasonic backward radiation profiles of Be(13μm)/Zr(1.545 mm) alloy plate and pure Zr(1.545 mm) plate were measured to evaluate the embedded Be layer. Lamb wave modes shown in the profiles decreased and profile pattern was changed by Be layer loading. Spectrum of backward radiated RF signals showed the mode number decrease. New evaluation factor of angular dispersion relating to group velocity of collective modes was suggested to evaluate the Be alloy layer on Zr plate.
