The study of D± meson production in deep inelastic scattering at HERA with the ZEUS detector
Description
The dominant contribution to the charm production in deep inelastic scattering(DIS) is so-called boson-gluon fusion process. Therefore charm cross section is directly sensitive to the gluon density function. A charm quark was identified by reconstruction of D± meson decay D±→K-+π±π±. Lifetime tagging technique was used to increase purity of the data sample. Charm inclusive and differential cross sections were extracted and compared with previous results. The charm cross section provide an opportunity to calculate the charm contribution to the structure function F2cantic with high precision.
