Results of postoperative radiotherapy and radiation of recurrent tumours, observed in adenomas of the pituitary gland operated at a primary stage
Description
This retrospective study included 134 patients showing adenomas of the pituitary gland. It was found that radiotherapy carried out immediately after surgery was superior to radiation commencing only after tumour recidivation. Treatment was predominantly based an 'ultrahard' X-rays (betatron), to a lesser extent on cobalt-60 gamma rays. (MBC)

134 Patienten mit Hypophysenadenomen werden in einer retrospektiven Studie erfasst. Dabei zeigt sich die Ueberlegenheit der sofortigen postoperativen Strahlentherapie gegenueber einer Bestrahlung erst nach Rezidivauftritt. Angewandt wurden vorwiegend ultraharte Roentgenstrahlen (Betatron), vereinzelt Cobalt 60 Gammastrahlung. (MBC)
