Pion production on 3He by protons in the energy range 300 to 400 MeV
Description
The pion production in the process 3He(p,π+)4He is studied in a model assuming the exchange of a virtual pion between the incident proton and the target nucleus and thus relating to π+-3He scattering via a triangle diagram. The results predicted for the differential cross-section of the pions produced by protons in the energy range approximately 300-400 MeV show a reasonable agreement with experimental data at small angles, but predict a dip structure at thetasub(c.m.) approximately 850.
