Description
In this article an effect of structure peculiarities of layer and sublayer minerals on their radiation stability has been considered. An analysis of the structural peculiarities has been made for the seventy-five minerals. Sixty-nine minerals have shown straight-forwarded microchannels in their elementary layer. These minerals are not metamict. In other sublayer minerals crimped microchannels are presented. These minerals are metamict. Conclusion has been made that the cause of the radiation stability of the minerals is the effect of channeling of alpha-particles, which occurs only in the case of presence of straight-forwarded channels in the structure of the minerals. In this article influence of the interlayer molecules of water on the radiation stability of minerals has been considered
