Nuclear tablets: will the Safety Convention make us feel better?

After more than three years work, the nuclear community has a Convention on Nuclear Safety which will commit countries to follow a set of basic safety principles and to implement measures to achieve a high level of safety at nuclear power plants. The Convention was finally adopted by a diplomatic conference on 17 June 1994, to be opened for signature on 20 September, during the IAEA's General Conference. (Author)
