Recommendations: Introducing the quality system into the use of significant ionizing radiation sources in radiotherapy. TLD audit by mail
Description
Methods of independent TLD quality audit are described for selected parameters of radionuclide irradiators, linear electron accelerators, and other facilities for external radiotherapy. The methods have been developed within projects linked to EROPAQ (pan-European Radiation Oncology Programme for Assurance of Treatment Quality] and EURAQA (pan-European Radiotherapy Quality Assurance), and IAEA Project E.2.40.07. TLD audit by mail consists of sending the dosimetry set to the given radiotherapy department, where the exposure of the TL dosimeters or films is conducted in compliance with the guidelines. The subsequent evaluation of the results of measurements of the dosimetry set provides information about the level of the quality assurance system at the department with respect to the accuracy of the doses applied.
