Description
The maximum stresses given by this theoretical analysis, which are of course the most important factors for design, are expected to have slightly higher values than those occurring in nature and hence the theory should be inherently safe to use. In certain important problems requiring an exact solution the theoretical values obtainable from the new theory may be used as very advanced starting points for a reiterative relaxation method final stage smoothing of the results. The new approach has also the advantage of extreme simplicity so that it may be applied by the least erudite engineers to problems which in the past could only be attempted by applied mathematicians.
