Influence of phase-structure composition on properties of titanium alloys at low-temperature nitriding in mixtures of gases

Description

Influence of phase-structure composition of titanium alloys on features of modified layers formation is investigated at the low-temperature nitriding in plasma of low-pressure non-selfsustained arc discharge. It is found that formation of submicrocrystalline structure in material volume leads to greater increasing of the surface microhardness in comparison with a material in a coarse-grained state. It is shown that the alloying of the titanium by aluminum, vanadium and molybdenum makes essential impact on character of nitrogen diffusion in titanium alloys. (authors)
