Description

The radiation released on decay of the short lived decay products of radon imparts the lung dose to which increased risk of lung cancer is attributed. It is essential to study the radon measurements in dwellings and radon has been measured. The samples have been collected from the nearby locations where radon have been estimated. 40K, 226Ra and 232Th have been estimated in soil samples using gamma spectrometry technique. Further, radium equivalent activity (Raeq) has also been determined and correlation of radon levels with radium content in soil and granite samples have also been investigated in this study.
