Left-right symmetry without parity restoration at low energies
Description
It is shown that for the SU(2)sub(L) x SU(2)sub(R) x U(1)sub(L+R) sub-structure at low energies that descends from simple unification symmetries like the SO(10), renormalisation effects due to large intermediate mass scales responsible for symmetry breaking lead to the gauge coupling ratio gsub(L) (SU(2)sub(L))/gsub(R)(SU(2)sub(R)) being substantially larger than unity. Effects of such departures from unity are discussed in the two extreme cases in which the neutrino or the parity violating electron-nucleon neutral current interactions are identical to those of the standard SU(2)sub(L) x U(1)sub(L+R) theory.
