Radiation initiated by a surface wave propagating along a long plasma column with a charged impedance

Description

A method for calculating the radiation field, accompanying the passage of a surface electromagnetic wave along a long thin plasma column with a smoothly varying impedance is presented. The plasma body can be formed in the atmosphere as a result of a multi-quantum air ionization by ultraviolet laser radiation. Calculations present the values of the directive gain for 1 and 10 m length waves at the altitude of 25 km above the sea level, equal to 1460 and 544 under Joule losses of about 40%
