Radiation-induced color centers in gallium garnets
Description
Effect of γ-, UV- and electron radiation as well as different high-temperature treatments on absorption and luminescence spectra of rare earth gallium and calcium-gallium-germanium garnets (CGGG) is investigated. Some general regularities of color centre formation in the investigated crystals are disclosed. Additional absorption (AA) bands in the 350 nm range arising in gallium garnets under irradiation and reduction annealing can be explained from the view point of the Fsub(+)-centre model. AA bands in the 270-280 belong to this type of the centre in CGGG. AA bands appearing under gallium garnet irradiation with the maximum at 440 nm (360 nm in the case of CGGG) belong to the center of the hole type
