The synthesis of close-binary light curves. VI. X ray and collapsar binaries
Description
General relations are presented for the interpretation of single distorted star light curves. These are then applied to five X-ray binaries (Cyg X-1, Her X-1, Vela X-1, SMC X-l, and 2U 1700-37). Together with considerations of X-ray and spectroscopic data, models and masses are derived for the systems. Similar considerations are applied to two non-X-ray binaries (HD 72754 and HD 187399) and suggest that massive collapsed stars are present in them. Subject headings: binaries - X-ray sources
