Radium and radon in water

Description
This paper discusses radioactive substances in ground water and methods for treatment or removal of the same. Radium and radon are considered as daughter products resulting from the decay of uranium and thorium minerals. The paper provides a radioactive decay series to show the progression of these elements. The paper then goes on to briefly discuss the health effects from this exposure. The most effective treatment has been found to be activated carbon for radon and standard cation exchange water softeners for radium
