Description

A summary of the IAEA Technical Committee Meeting on Negative Ion Beam Heating held in Grenoble, France in March, 1985 is presented. The main purpose of the meeting was to review the latest achievements and the status of experimental and theoretical investigations of negative ion beam heating in fusion research. Topics included design of negative ion sources, status of accelerators, neutralizer systems, scaling to high power, and the future of energetic neutral-beam systems for a reactor. In this report, some general impressions from this meeting are given and selected papers are discussed
