Description

This issue of Energies et Matieres Premieres journal comprises 3 articles. The first article is a reprint of the talk given by Mrs Loyola de Palacio at the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI) on July 5, 2001 about a safe and durable European strategy of energy supplies based on energy saving, on the development of renewable energy sources and on the role of nuclear energy in the fight against climate changes. The second article is a reprint of the talks given by C. Pierret (French State Secretary of Industry), by R.G. Schwartzenberg (French Minister of Research), by C. Bataille (Depute of the Nord region) and by the different participants to the round table of the colloquium on nuclear energy organized on November 6, 2001. The aim of the colloquium was to debate of the role the nuclear energy will have in the future energy and environmental challenges considering the increasing world energy demand and the reduction of greenhouse gases emissions. The last article deals with the 5. and 6. European R and D programs for the sustain of renewable energies and energy mastery. (J.S.)
