Study on molybdenum and iron diffusion in binary iron-vanadium and iron-molybdenum alloys in α-phase field

Description

Studied is iron and molybdenum diffusion in stabilized α-phase of an iron-vanadium alloy (1.85 at % V) and iron-molybdenum alloys (3.72; 4.85 and 6.10 at % Mo). The diffusion coefficients were determined by the method of integral remainder using the Fe55 and Mo99 radioactive isotopes at 900-1300 deg C. It is shown, that iron alloying with vanadium up to 1.85 at % does not noticeably effect on diffusion coefficient values and parameters of their temperature dependence (activation energy and frequency factor). Iron alloying with molybdenum up to 6 at % leads to some decrease of activation energy and frequency factor. The evaluation of correlation factor demonstrates that the vacancy mechanism is probably the main one for molybdenum diffusion in α-iron
