Vacuum ultraviolet luminescence-excitation spectra of RPO4:Eu3+ (R=Y, La, Gd and Lu)

Description
Measurements of luminescence-excitation spectra and diffuse reflection spectra are performed with rare-earth orthophosphate phosphors, RPO4 (R=Y, La, Gd, and Lu) activated mainly with Eu3+ ions, in the vacuum ultraviolet region, 120-300 nm. A rather narrow excitation band at the absorption edge (145-160 nm) of the hosts is assigned to an intramolecular transition of PO43- anions. (Auth.)
