Description
Research and development have been carried out on the new Ni-Cr-W superalloy as a component material for high temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTGRs) with coolant outlet temperatures of around 1,000 C. In the first step of the program, the optimum basic chemical composition, i.e., Cr/W ratio of the alloy was determined to be Ni-18 to 19 mass% Cr-20 to 22 mass% W mainly from the viewpoints of producibility, creep rupture strength and corrosion resistance in the simulated HTGR helium. In the second step, effects of other alloying elements, i.e., C, Nb, Fe, Mn, Si, Ti, B and Y were investigated systematically on hot-workability, tensile property before and after aging, creep rupture property and corrosion behavior in the simulated HTGR helium of Ni-18 to 19 mass% Cr-20 to 22 mass% W alloys. This paper summarizes mainly the second step of the program
