Studies of the analytical and preparatory separation of the lanthanide series by means of high-pressure-liquid-chromatography
Description
With the Elution-system di-iso-propylether/tetrahydrofurane/di-(2-ethylhexyl)-phosphate/nitric acid all lanthanide series elements can be separated. To optimize the separation, these reactions are studied as a function of sorbent, composition, velocity and temperature of eluting agents. The rare earth elements are detected by observation of the extinguishing fluorescence, excited at a wavelength of 240 nm, with a detection limit of 2.5 μg rare earth material per ml of eluate. The method has been used for the determination of rare earth concentrations in minerals and technical products, for chemical separation of rare earths (i.e. Eu/Gd in mg quantities with a 1:10 quantity ratio) and for the separation of rare earth elements from uranium and fission products. In addition the possibility of isotope enrichment has been demonstrated in the case of 144Sm/154Sm. (DG)

Im Eluenssystem Di-iso-propylether/Tetrahydrofuran/Di-(2-ethylhexyl)-phosphat/Salpetersaeure gelingt die Trennung aller SE. Zur Optimierung der Trennung wurde der Einfluss des Sorbens, der Eluenszusammensetzung, der Eluensgeschwindigkeit und der Temperatur untersucht. Der Nachweis der einzelnen Elemente erfolgte durch Fluoreszenzloeschung bei einer Anregungswellenlaenge von 240 nm, wobei die Nachweisgrenze 2.5 μg SE/ml Eluat betrug. Die Methode wurde mit Erfolg eingesetzt zur Bestimmung von SE in Gesteinen und technischen Produkten, zur praeparativen Trennung von SE (z.B. Eu/Gd in Milligramm-Mengen im Verhaeltnis 1:10), zur Abtrennung der SE von Uran und Spaltprodukten sowie von Spaltprodukten untereinander. Ueberdies wurde am Beispiel 144Sm/154Sm die Moeglichkeit einer Isotopenanreicherung demonstriert. (DG)
