Effect of electron--electron collisions on the electron rate coefficients in an inert-gas plasma

  • 1. Moscow Physicotechnical Institute, Dolgoprudnyi

Description

The effect of electron--electron collisions on the electron rate coefficients is studied by solving the Boltzmann equation numerically for Ar, Kr, and Xe with an electric field. The average energy and drift velocity of the electrons, the electron energy balance, and the rate constants for exciting and ionizing atoms from ground and excited states by electron impact are calculated. An increase in the degree of ionization to 10-4 leads to substantial changes in the electron rate coefficients
