Description

Full text: The specimens of Metglass 2605 series (Alied Chemical Corp.) have been irradiated on the U-150 cyclotron (INP NNC) with 30 MeV protons and 50 MeV α-particles up to doses of 2·1017 cm-2. Moessbauer spectroscopy was used to get an information of short-range order in amorphous alloys. Additionally, the conversion electron Moessbauer spectroscopy (CEMS) has been allowed to observe subsurface layers, which is important for rapid-quenched ribbons. The irradiation with α-particles has made possible to apply an emission spectroscopy of primary knocked on atoms ( stopping zones with a sufficiently high yield of the mother isotope 57Co, where the prevailing reaction is 56Fe(α, p2n)57Co. Moessbauer parameters show that irradiation in both cases does not cause crystallization in a bulk, as well as in primary damaged (PKA) zones. Although, an increasing in an average hyperfine magnetic field has been observed, especially larger in PKA zones. CEMS spectra reveal some structural changes at surfaces after irradiation, obviously for the contact-cooling side of ribbons. The parameters of the crystal phases show up a formation of the associated γ-Fe phase
