Analysis of uranium metal
Description
An introduction to the analytical requirements encountered in the production of uranium metal designed for nuclear reactors is presented. Comparisons of the chemical specifications of two different uranium fuels are shown. The techniques used for sampling uranium metal are described. Brief descriptions of the analytical methods and equipment used to determine densities, carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, uranium isotopes, trace impurities, alloying constituents and uranium are included
