Description
A complex of physico-chemical methods is used to study LnF3-TbF4(Ln = Sc, Y, La-Lu) systems. Formation of Ln(TbF5)3 (Ln=Sc, Y, Tb-Lu) compounds isostructural to the corresponding zirconium and hafnium derivatives is noted. Linear dependence of the elementary cell volume on Ln3+ ion radius is stated. It is shown that Ln(TbF5)3 decomposes at 550-600 deg C with evolution of fluorine and formation of Ln0.25Tb0.75F3
