Description
In Bavaria, nuclear-medical diagnostics and therapy are pursued at approximately 250 centers in clinics as well as in independent medical offices. Examinations of the skeleton and the thyroid glands are the most frequent ones. It is the objective of an effective radiation protection to guarantee by means of suitable measures that the exposure to radiation resulting from handling radioactive materials remains small for patients, staff and the environment in general. For this purpose, in addition to the Radiation Protection Ordinance, there is a large number of DIN standards and guidelines which, in addition to the protection for patients, staff and environment i.a., also regulate the discharge of patients after having been subjected to the application of radioactive materials and the treatment of radioactive corpses. Nuklearmedizinische Diagnostik und Therapie wird in Bayern an ca. 250 Stellen sowohl in Kliniken als auch in freier Praxis betrieben. Untersuchungen des Skeletts und der Schilddruese sind die haeufigsten. Ziel eines wirksamen Strahlenschutzes ist es, durch geeignete Massnahmen sicherzustellen, dass die aus dem Umgang mit radioaktiven Stoffen resultierende Strahlenexposition fuer Patient, Personal und allgemeine Umwelt gering bleibt. Hierfuer gibt es neben der StrlSchVO eine Vielzahl von DIN-Normen und Richtlinien, die neben dem Patienten-, Personal- und Umweltschutz u.a. auch die Entlassung von Patienten nach Applikation radioaktiver Stoffe und die Behandlung radioaktiver Leichen regeln.
