Dipole states in the interacting boson model
Description
The structure of dipole states in nuclei is investigated within the framework of the Interacting Boson Model by introducing an L=1-(dipole) boson. The predictions of the model are compared with the standard surface quadrupole phonon techniques in 146Nd. Simple analytical results can be obtained in the rigid rotor (SU(3)) limit of the IBM
