Description

A precise transport measurement under pressure up to 8 GPa revealed an unexpected feature in the temperature dependence of the resistivity of SmS and TmSe at low temperatures below 30 K. We observed cusp-like or kink anomalies in the resistivity-temperature curves. There exist at least two and three successive electronic phase transitions in SmS and TmSe, respectively, at 4.2 K under pressure up to 8 GPa. On the basis of these experimental results we proposed a tentative pressure-temperature phase diagram for these compounds. (author)
