Description

The binding energy of a deuteron was measured by the precision spectroscopy of γ rays from the 1H+n → 2D+γ reaction using the set of reference γ lines. The magnitude of the binding energy obtained, Esub(D)=(2224.572+-0.040) keV is compared with the previous experimental determination Esub(D)=(2224.667+-0.046) keV, with the mean weighted value of (2224.642+-0.042) keV and the coordinated value of (2224.628+-0.030) keV. In all the errors of above Esub(D) values more than 2/3 is due to the error in the 411.8 keV reference line of 198Hg. The magnitude of Esub(D) obtained is lower than that of other determinations
