The precipitation effects caused by exposure to service temperature (T=3D600 degree centigree) of an 17-11 with 2-5 Mo austenitic steel after treatments (by wielding process) in the temperature range of 900-1350 degree centigree

Description
It is common knowledge that when thick sections of 17 Cr-11 Ni-2.5 Mo austenitic steels are welded, cracking is sometimes encountered in the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) of the weldment after the component has been subjected to service conditions of pressure and temperature (T=3D600 degree centigree). Tests carried out in our laboratories have shown that this premature failure of the material is accompanied by grain boundary carbides precipitates, and it is feasible therefore to suppose that the precipitates so formed has a contrubuting influence on the premature failure
