Description

The electronic absorption spectra of lanthanides (Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Ho, Er) and uranium in molten chloride salts were measured in the ultra-violet to visible light region. On lanthanides the spectra were measured about LnCl3 dissolved in molten chloride salt at the temperature between 673 and 1073 K. The molten salts of LiCl-KCl, eutectics of NaCl-2CsCl, NaCl, CsCl, CaCl2, and those mixed salts were used as solvent. The experimental results, which followed especially Nd and Pr is reported. About uranium the spectra of uranium ion (U4+, U3+) and uranyl ion (UO22+, UO2+) was measured in eutectic NaCl-2CsCl (923 K). (H. Katsuta)
