High-temperature relaxation spectra of borate glasses

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow (Russian Federation). Inst. Fizicheskoj Khimii

Description

The technique for calculation of relaxation time spectra of glassy B2O3 and sodium borate glasses in the field of vitrification is suggested using experimental temperature dependences of mechanical losses at varying frequencies. The width of relaxation spectrum of glass was demonstrated to be independent of temperature in the field of low temperatures, but to depend on temperature in the field of high temperatures, at the some time the relaxation time spectrum generated in distribution function with one relaxation time ay increasing temperature. The nature of vitrification in B2O3 and sodium borate glasses wsa differentiated, in the former case, the part of boron-oxygen chain was the kinetic unit of the process, and in the latter case, the chemical bond in B-O of boron-oxygen net played a similar role
