The dependence of the harmonic oscillator energy level spacing on the mass number of nuclei
- 1. Salonica Univ. (Greece). Dept. of Theoretical Physics
Description
Approximate expressions of (h/2π)#betta# as functions of A of nuclei are derived, showing 'discontinuities in the slope' of (h/2π)#betta# at the closed shells. A simplified expression is also given. The dependence on A is established through a Fermi distribution, its parameters rho0 and α being determined by fitting either to values of (h/2π)#betta# reproducing the experimental values of charge rms radii of nuclei: sub(exp)sup(1/2) or directly to sub(3xp)sup(1/2).
