Rotational stabilization of drift tearing modes
Creators

Description
Drift tearing modes have a threshold Δ' for instability, which is increased by sheared poloidal rotation. Sheared rotation becomes important for v'θ≥ω*. The critical Δ' is approximately linear in |v'θ|. The linear stability of tearing modes is relevant to tokamak edge conditions at the L- to H-mode transition
