Description

We consider expansions of the structure function in inverse powers of the momentum transfer. Using a wide class of potential models we determine for several choices of scaling variables y the leading order correction and show how these may be absorbed in an interaction-dependent precocious scaling variable anti y. Our results carry over to a many-body system with a local potential describing the final-state interaction of the knocked-out particle with the core. We show that hard-core potentials lead to a different scaling function and discuss the relevance of our results for a realistic description of inclusive electron scattering from nuclei. (orig.)
