Influence of the growth temperature on the structure of interlayer boundaries of Fe/Cr superlattices

Description

The effect of the temperature growth on the structure of the interlayer boundaries in the (100)Fe/Cr superlattices grown through the method of the molecular beam epitaxy on the substrates from the monocrystalline Al2O3 is studied through the X-ray reflectometry. The new methodology for processing the reflectometric data accounting for the influence of the instrumental effects is proposed. It is established that the epitaxial growth of the superlattices with the perfect microstructure is possible only within the narrow temperature range (140-200 deg C) and the deviation of the growth temperature from this range sharply deteriorates the quality of the interlayer boundaries. It is shown that the root-mean-square roughness of the Cr/Fe boundaries even by the optimal growth temperature exceeds the Fe/Cr boundaries roughness
