Endoprothesis of false aneurysm of the femoral artery in a critical ill patient - a case report

Elderly patients in bad general condition, suffering from acute arterial insufficiency or complications following arterial disorders are a serious problem for the vascular surgery, since risks in their operative treatment are more than the benefits, mortality or impairment of concomitant diseases are quite common. The advantages of interventional radiology should be used maximally because of the easier way to come out of the disease. We present a case as an illustration of successful treatment of a patient with a false aneurysm of the superficial femoral artery, following multiple operative reconstructions in this region. Endograft 5/100 mm in the cranial segment of the superficial femoral artery was performed and a control angiography showed no communications between artery and false aneurysm. Postoperative period was uneventful. After 4 days patient was discharged in a better condition no palpable pulsations over the tumor mass in the right groin. The successful treatment of this patient motivates us to recommend the interventional radiology as a method of choice in such patients
