Estimation of temperature structure parameter using SODAR at Tarapur
- 1. Health Physics Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, Mumbai (India)
Description
SODAR is found useful for the observation of turbulence in the atmosphere over regional scale. It is well known that the intensity of the acoustic backscatter signal from a mono-static Doppler SODAR varies due to the temperature fluctuations in the scattering volume and is proportional to the temperature structure parameter CT2 in the ABL. Average value of hourly CT2 for 110m height at coastal site Tarapur is 15610.4 (K2m-2/3) with minimum for the month September 6448 (K-2m-2/3) and maximum 32497(K-2m-2/3 ) for the month April.
