Description
The effect of milling prior to the HDDR treatment of Sm2Fe17 on the magnetic properties of Sm2Fe17N3 has been investigated. The coercivity, μ0JHc, was increased from 1.4 T for bulk-processed material to 2.8 T for material milled prior to the HDDR treatment. The addition of excess Sm, prior to milling, is required to compensate for losses due to oxidation and evaporation. (orig.)
