Description

Recent R-matrix calculations of electron excitation rates for transitions in Ca xv are used to derive the theoretical density-sensitive emission line ratios R1 = I(161.01 A)/I(144.31 A) and R2 I(141.69 A)/I(144.31 A), which are suitable as diagnostics for values of Nsub(e) typical of Tokamak plasmas. A comparison of our results with observed R1 and R2 ratios for the TEXT Tokamak plasma reveals excellent agreement between theory and observation, thereby providing support for the accuracy of the atomic data adopted in the analysis.
