Traumatic extradural hematoma, analysis of 39 cases

  • 1. National Hospital of Kure, Hiroshima (Japan)

Description

The frequency of hematoma in the posterior fossa was higher in these cases than in past reports, suggesting that CT facilitated the diagnosis. The most important factor exacerbating the prognosis was intradural lesions. The prognosis of patients with extradural hematoma alone was satisfactory, irrespective of its clinical severity. The operative prognosis of the patients depended greatly on the earliness of initial treament, and the reduced time in diagnosing because of the advent of CT was thought to be one of the great factors for the improved operative prognosis.
