Description
Following recent increases in unit capacity of nuclear power plants and the increased share in the power supply system as well as higher safety requirements, the number of monitor control instruments continue to increase, central control panels become larger and operation monitor control tends to become more complex. As a measure to solve those problems, operation monitor systems, making full use of computer and CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) technologies are being watched. This paper introduces an outline of the centralized control monitor system-MEDIC 2000 (Mitsubishi Advanced Central Display and Control Complex) being developed as a new concept for PWR nuclear power plant. MEDIC-2000 is a control monitor system which not only utilizes computer and CRT technologies but also introduces automation and simplification of the plant operation. The area necessary for regular monitoring is greatly reduced by dividing the central control panel into main panel, nuclear reactor auxiliary panel and turbine generator auxiliary panel corresponding to operation mode and combining it with the above-mentioned CRT display technology. For the development of this system, verification of real time response combined with a plant simulator is currently carried out in addition to verification by mock up and evaluation based on human engineering (evaluation based on thinking theory and action theory of human being).
