Electronic states of hot ions in irradiated frozen ethanol solutions of diamagnetic Mo(0) and Mo(IV) complexes

Description
The irradiation of frozen ethanol solutions of Mo(CO)6 and [MoOCl(d)(dppe)2]Cl results in bands at 21,500 cm-1 due to [Mo(CO)6]- and at 25,000 and 23,500 cm-1 due to [MoOCl(dppe)2] in the excited state. On the basis of bands the electron configurations of Mo(-I) and Mo(III) in the excited state were determined. The behaviour of hot ions depends on the symmetry and charge of the central ion. (author)
