Description

A first part of this study presents some key concepts such as green chemistry, bio-sourced chemistry, bio-sourced product, briefly presents biomass peculiarities for the production of bio-sourced molecules, an also presents bio-refinery and the different bio-refineries. It proposes an overview of stakes associated with the development of bio-sourced chemistry, and of the present context. In a second part, it presents the study objectives (to highlight the distribution of biomass usages, to make tangible elements available for the definition of public policies), and its methodology (scope, approach, criteria of choice of bio-molecules). It proposes an overview of the French production of the studied bio-sourced molecules, and of biomass needs, a perspective with respect to other usages of the studied biomasses (rape and sunflower, beet sugar, cereal starch), an indication of the relative weights of bio-sourced molecule productions, and an assessment of biomass consumption associated with molecule production. Factors of development of bio-sourced production are discussed: drive forces of bio-sourced chemistry, focus on some development factors, focus on studied molecules, impact of these factors on current industrial developments, non-studied usages which could later lead to very significant volumes of biomass, and assessment of determining factors of demand in bio-sourced products
